The biomass industry represents several different industries brought together by the utilization of renewable organic matters including oil palm waste, timber waste, rice husk, coconut trunk fibers, municipal solid waste, sugar cane waste, etc.
These organic materials have the potential to be used in the generation of renewable energy i.e. conversion of biomass feedstock into solid biofuel (pellets, briquettes), biomass power plant projects (co-firing, methane capture), liquid biofuel such as diesel and ethanol and the manufacturing of value-added eco-products e.g. pulp and paper, biocomposite, and bioplastics as sustainable substitution for fossil-based materials as well as the development of valuable green chemical precursors such as sugar alcohols, ethanol, and lactic acid.

Formation of the Malaysia Green Building Council started in May 2007, when a group consultant, academia and representatives from the building industry met to initiate a non-profit making organisation to promote sustainable buildings in Malaysia. This group with increasing participants met several times during 2007 and 2008, and official registration of the Malaysia Green Building Council was initiated. Later in 2008, the group was supported by the two professional organisations Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) and the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM), and by April 2009, the Malaysia Green Building Council was officially registered. The malaysiaGBC is supported by the professional, industrial and government sectors. It is well poised to lead our building industry in embracing responsible measures that would help realized energy savings, water conservation, a healthier indoor environment, better public connectivity, recycling of valuable resources and provision of greenery in developments.

Asia Research News connects research with the wider world. The service came about in the early 2000s when I heard from several prominent journalists that information about research in Asia was difficult to come by. Being an Asian researcher, and having worked as a journalist, the comments planted a seed that would germinate into Asia Research News.  After discussions with many university leaders, press officers, researchers and journalists, I realized that Asia needed a mechanism enabling researchers and journalists to connect directly with each other. In 2005, we launched ResearchSEA.com as Asia’s first research news portal, creating a framework for institutions to share their news and thrive independently. Researchers gained greater recognition for their work and journalists benefited from a centralized resource for a wider variety of news to interest their readers, viewers and listeners. Our company has evolved to provide a complete suite of communication services and training for research institutions looking to expand their international presence. Our flagship Asia Research News print magazine, published since 2009, has been so popular that we adopted the title as our brand name with a redesigned Asia Research News website in 2019. Meet our team and see a visual summary of our story below.
